Parallel Horizons

We had the chance of meeting once,
When the sun had just set and the night was still young.

You held my hand,
Then stars started flying amidst the dark night sky.

Your smile was mesmerizing,
Your touch, breathtaking.

But like the brightest star in the galaxy,
We shone too bright too soon.

Crashed and destroyed our arms,
Unloosen the tangle of our lines.

I was dark and you were light,
Together we were just never right.

Our lives will go on our own paths,
Always on the same line,
But never intersecting.

We might meet once more,
for we look at the same sun.

But our hearts might never beat
with the same rhythm ever again.
